Open House a HUGE success!
Feb 19, 2022, 10:36 pm

On Feb 18, 2022, with a grant from Speed Skating Canada, Langley Blades was able to host an Open House for the general public where they could come out and try our sport for FREE. The response far exceeded our hopes and expectations! We welcomed 40-50 skaters from ages 3-50 onto our ice for races, drills and demos. Our coaches, coaches from other clubs, volunteer parents from our AND other clubs, junior coaches and senior skaters all stepped in to help on the day and for that we are so thankful.

LANGLEY BLADES INTERCLUB IS FINALLY COMING!

After a long 18 or so months our skaters finally will get a chance to race against each other again, for the first time, at our meet on October 23rd.

Skaters from all over BC will gather at the Langley Sportsplex and we're so excited!

Langley Blades Facebook page HACKED!
Aug 17, 2021, 2:42 am

In August 2021 the Blades Facebook page was suddenly hacked and deleted. Years worth of content and work to gain followers, gone! Admin attempted to contact Facebook to get support to get it up again, without success. We tried everything and finally admitted defeat and realised we have to start again, from scratch. So please be sure to follow us at our NEW page @langleybladesspeedskatingclub

Awards given out at AGM
Apr 19, 2021, 4:52 pm
The Langley Blades Speed Skating Club Executive has created two club awards to be handed out on an annual basis. The first is awarded to a skater for an Outstanding Achievement each season. The second, named in honour of George Donatelli, is awarded to a skater, volunteer or family embodying a simiilar dedication to speed skating that George, our club founder, did.

This year's winner of the Outstanding Achievement Trophy is awarded to Brynne Merson for her outstanding improvement in speed skating. Brynne receives a plaque recognizing this and takes home the trophy until next year's winner is announced. Congratulations Brynne!

This year's winner of the George Donatelli Dedication to Speed Skating Award is Jackie Humber.  Despite not being able to skate with the Blades, due to pandemic restrictions, for the second half of the season Jackie remained dedicated to the sport and the club. Congratulations Jackie!

SPONSOR-A-MAT program
Oct 17, 2020, 10:40 pm

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic the Langley Blades are unable to fundraise like we normally would so we had to find something that could bring in much needed money to help cover the many costs of speed skating and help make our sport affordable for the average family.

We are offering our SPONSOR-A-MAT program to all local businesses and services to consider. Please see the information sheet below.
