Member Responsibilities

Speed skating is a family-oriented, volunteer-driven sport.  We require that our members participate to keep the club viable and running:

Fundraising

The Langley Blades Club is required to fundraise throughout the season to pay for ice times, coaching fees and equipment replacement/maintenance.  Member fees do not cover the entire cost of running the club from season to season.  Besides Langley City and BC Government grants, we also rely on fundraising efforts.  We expect our members to participate in fundraisers throughout the year.  A $200 fundraising cheque is required.

 Volunteering

The Langley Blades Speed Skating Club relies on volunteers to run the club.  Aside from paying our coach, every other aspect of the Langley Blades is run by volunteer members and/or their families.    There are many volunteer opportunities.

To ensure a successful season and to equally distribute volunteer opportunites fairly amongst all members, the Langley Blades require a cheque of $200 is required.

The executive committee is elected at the Langley Blades Annual General Meeting at the end of the season.  If you are interested in being part of the committee, please speak with a current executive member or Contact Us using the link in the left menu.

Not only is volunteering a great way to save money but it also helps you learn about the great sport of speed skating, allows you to get to know our team members and also gives you a chance to meet new 'grown-up' friends!  There is no experience necessary, although if you have specific skills you believe will be helpful to our club, please let us know!
